Author Bruce A. Jacobs Presents, "Race Manners"
MONT ALTO, Pa. — Author Bruce A. Jacobs will speak on the topic of “Race Manners in the Wake of the Trayvon Martin Verdict” in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event begins at 2 p.m. in the Wiesling Student Center on the Penn State University, Mont Alto campus. It is open to the public and free of charge.
In his appearances at universities, churches and community gatherings across the country, Jacobs encourages people to challenge racism and work toward social and economic fairness.
His book, “Race Manners for the 21st Century: Navigating the Minefield Between Black and White Americans in an Age of Fear,” is a guide intended for both whites and blacks that “explores the resentments that thwart a genuine dialogue,” according to a review by Publishers Weekly.
A Harvard graduate, Jacobs has appeared on such shows as “National Public Radio,” “Pacifica,” and “C-Span.” He is also author of “Speaking through My Skin,” a book of poems, published by MSU Press.
