Aquatic therapy exercise programWhat's a Physical Therapist Assistant?   Physical therapist assistants (PTA's) are skilled technical health care workers who assist physical therapists with testing and treating patients. They help people who have short- or long-term disabilities recover their physical capabilities.

The PTA Program at Penn State Mont Alto  program includes five semesters of studies - four semesters of course work followed by a semester-long practicum in a health-care setting. This balanced curriculum helps students prepare to support professional physical therapists in patient treatment.

Through a combination of science and nonscience course work, students gain skill and knowledge in the use of equipment and exercise in physical therapy treatment. Specialized instruction includes anatomy and physiology, kinesiology (the study of human muscular movements), and therapeutic, postsurgical, and rehabilitative procedures.
